A molecular sieve is a fine-pored desiccant granulate (zeolite) that removes residual moisture from the compressed air in breathing air and compressed air compressors. It is located in the dryer cartridge of the filter stage and must be replaced regularly depending on usage.

Why molecular sieve is important in compressors

Residual moisture in breathing air is one of the criteria that good air quality monitoring systems like IDE-Airsave continuously measure. Air that is too moisture-laden can cause corrosion in cylinders and valves and compromise breathing air quality in accordance with DIN EN 12021:2014 – the molecular sieve is the stage that prevents precisely that.
